Teddy - [ted-ee] (n.)
Writer, Actor, Director, Stage Manager
As a playwright, Teddy has a knack for creating compelling characters amid surprising and captivating situations. With her extraordinary flair for creating dialogue, Teddy dispenses information within a play in a very sophisticated manner.
As an actor, Teddy is known for her fierce portrayals of the charming, yet damaged leading lady and the witty best friend. Teddy finds herself most drawn to the roles that bring a lot of backstory onto the stage. Teddy recognizes that we are, in our daily lives, a collection of our past experiences. She honors each one of her character’s pasts as she tries to bring their whole selves onto the stage. Teddy’s acting style is unique in that she brings a lot of herself into each role while staying true to the character’s motives.
Currently, Teddy is studying Theatre and Creative Writing at Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO). While in college, Teddy made her stage-managing debut with the Lanford Wilson One Acts, a collection of ten-minute plays written by playwrights across the nation. She is a regular participant in the New Play Workshop that meets on campus to help her and other aspiring playwrights develop new works. She assists backstage in presenting the plays and musicals her university produces. Teddy also works regularly with the Fabulous Fox Theatre in Saint Louis, Missouri, her hometown.
In her free time, Teddy seeks out other ways of being creative. She enjoys knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She loves to dance in her pajamas, and she has recently developed an enthusiasm for cooking. Teddy also enjoys journaling and meditating, and she believes doing so greatly helps her create new and intriguing characters.
